Well known as the Southern Gateway to Lake Texoma, Pottsboro sits on the shores of that portion of Texoma known for its full service marinas, wide sandy beaches and islands perfect for boating and camping. We also offer excellent bass fishing, numerous domiciles including resorts, B&B’s, rental houses and a wide variety of homes with beautiful lake views. Not into water activities? The Pottsboro Area offers several golf courses, horseback riding, nature walks and bus tours through the Hagerman Wildlife Reservation. If dining is your pleasure, we offer many restaurants from fast food to popular chains to unique upscale dining experiences.

Less than an hour after heading north from Dallas on Hwy. 289, your Pottsboro Area experience begins when you pass the North Texas Regional Airport (originally Perrin Air Force Base) which houses several private hangers and a runway that will handle almost any aircraft. If flying is your preferred method of travel, you will find several private airstrips located close to the lake. Numerous aerobatic competitions are held each year at the regional airport and weekend “fly-ins” are popular at private airstrips. Continuing north on Hwy. 289, you will pass through the Hwy. 289 and 120 intersection and either enter Downtown Pottsboro to the right or continue on to the peninsula passing several beautiful lakeside communities, summer camps, lodges and eventually stopping at the waters edge.

Pottsboro’s unique mix of weekend visitors, summer homes and permanent residents (some retired, some commuting) have created a community that is capable of catering to a wide variety of recreational and professional needs. Our thriving real estate industry, sports related businesses, restaurants, convenience stores and other small support businesses have made Pottsboro a great place to live, work and play.

Our schools are second to none and our wide variety of outdoor activities have made this fine community a unique oasis between the thriving metropolises of Dallas/Ft. Worth, Oklahoma City and all small towns in between.

If you think we’re bragging, come see for yourself. Stop in to our conveniently located Visitors Center/Chamber of Commerce at 615 Hwy 120 East or visit our website at www.PottsboroChamber.com . Whether you arrive here by car, boat, plane, bicycle or motorcycle, once you get here, you won’t want to leave and that’s why our motto is: COME PLAY – COME STAY.
